Stay Informed June 2025

Message from the Practice Manager

Here comes Summer, June 20th and 21st is Summer Solstice and what lovely weather we have had so far in May, long may it continue.

We are very proud of our new electronic doors at the surgery entrance, they are proving to be a hit with all patients especially those who have physical challenges, many thanks to Queensway Trust for funding their installation.

We are proud to welcome our new GP Registrar Dr Humzah Jamil who is working with us on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, he has had great feedback from our lovely patients, many thanks for your kindness.

Our social prescribers are stopping their library sessions for the Summer if you would like any help, advice or support from them please mention this to the GP or Receptionist or call our number and leave a message on option 5 and they will contact you to arrange any assistance they can give.

Kind Regards,
Jenny

Men's Health Week

9th to 15th June

Aims to raise awareness of men’s health and to encourage all men to seek help to address any health concerns that they may be experiencing.

Why is Men's Health Week important?

The following shocking statistics emphasize why Men's Health Week is so important:

One man in five dies before the age of 65 (Men's Health Forum).

Four in five suicides are by men, with suicide the biggest cause of death for men under 35 (UK Parliament).

According to the BUPA Wellbeing Index:

  • 43% of working British men are urging their employers to provide greater mental health support.
  • 50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point, yet fewer than half have sought medical advice.
  • 37% of UK men admit actively hiding their mental health issues from their partners.
  • 30% of men surveyed said they didn’t know where to turn for advice or support.
  • 65% of employees recognize that stigma around men’s mental health remains strong.
